The author is not a writer who could keep my interest. The only reason that I follow the yearly accents of the giants began after reading " Into Thin Air". I don't know if labeling the author resilient best describes the aftermath of the devistation to a Nation living in the clouds. Thst the author returned to ascend Everest a few years later is a reflection of his needs and not the people of Nepal. I follow the Everest seasons religiously thanks to the great reporting of Alan Arnette. When he recommended this book I knew it would be next on my reading list. I was not disappointed. Jim Davidson has a writing style such that you can see the beauty of Everest through his descriptions. Having to cut his first summit attempt short due to the devastating earthquake in Nepal, he was honest about the struggles with deciding whether to attempt it a second time. I really enjoyed the book and highly recommend it.
